"Liquid Detected" but your iPhone is dry? Here's what's really going on

Why the alert happens on a dry phone

Do these three things in order. Most people resolve the issue after step 1 or step 2.
Step 1 — Force restart
This resets the moisture sensor state. On any iPhone with Face ID (X and newer): press Volume Up briefly, then Volume Down briefly, then hold the Side button until the Apple logo appears (about 10 seconds). Don't panic-hold at first — the volume presses need to be quick taps, then the long side-button hold.

iOS gives you an "Emergency Override" button on the Liquid Detected warning. It forces charging to start even though the sensor says the port is wet.
